Home improvement trends for 2023

06/02/2023

At the start of every year we all take time to work and improve on ourselves, whether this is physically or mentally. Well, why not treat your home with a New year 2023 makeover. With the rise of social media platforms such as Instagram and Tiktok, home décor trends are constantly changing meaning it can be extremely hard to keep up with what is “in” and what isn’t. At Goldex Sales and Lettings, we have you covered as we bring you all of the latest home improvement trends for 2023 to give your home a kickstart into the new year.

The bolder and brighter the better

In 2023 the more colour that is used throughout your home the better. Current trends include using block colour or daring wallpapers throughout your home which can bring character and life back to the property. Accent colours on door and window frames are a subtle yet striking way to implement the use of colour in your home and we have seen a rise in the use of this technique over the last year.  For a more understated use of colour, Earthy colours such as pinks, brown, greens and pastels are an extremely popular choice and can be found in many wallpaper prints and home designs.  By displaying these colours on a black or white background, they are made more distinctive and complimented by the surroundings, making people feel awake and motivated in your home.

Brighten up your home in 2023

Why not let nature into your home in 2023? Studies have provided a direct correlation between a connection to nature in our homes and an improvement in performance at work and reduced stress as well as many other benefits. Ensuring blinds and curtains are opened during the day increases the amount of natural light in the property, opening the room and making it feel more spacious. This increase in natural light can also have a massive effect on Vitamin D intake which in turn may aid in improving your mood and allow your body to feel awake and energised throughout the day. With cost concerns at the forefront of many people’s minds during the current energy crisis, you can also save money on your energy bills by switching lights off and relying on natural lighting throughout your home. Including plants in your design scheme is a great way to further bring nature into your home, with low upkeep plants such as succulents. Alternatively, organic materials such as wood in your flooring and furnishings is a great way to bring nature in and is great coupled with earthy tones.

Make a statement with a piece of art

A piece of art can tell a million stories and make people feel warm and content, so why not make people feel this way inside your home. Art is a great way to make a statement and fill an empty space. This year, tiles have become extremely popular in art work most commonly seen displayed in a living and dining rooms or other open spaces. Tiktok has increased the popularity of making your own art to include pieces which are totally personal to you and your own home.  It is also often more cost efficient to create your own décor, replicating something you have seen or creating your own bespoke design which cannot be found on the market.

New year, new organization

Storage organization is a must in 2023. If you have a clean and organized home, it will help you feel less stressed and have more structure in your life. Organization tools such as the use of storage boxes and vacuum packs help to increase space and pack away things you don’t need often. These can be stored under beds to keep things organised and out of site, clearing up space for other items. Jars and acrylic storage solutions are extremely helpful within the kitchen to store food such as rice and pasta  and can be labelled to help find the things you need quickly. This can be easily obtained with the use of empty jars from things such as jam or pickled onions, cleaned and sterilised before being repurposed.

Wellbeing and balance

With a focus on overall wellbeing in 2023, creating balance in your life and your home is a great place to start. At Goldex Sales and Lettings we believe that it is extremely important that you fill your home with lots of positive vibes for 2023 and create a space that is personal to you. While trends change rapidly, it important to make sure that your décor works for you and remains personal to your styles and preferences.  Your home should be your safe haven and make you feel stress free and calm; fill your home with that in 2023.
